Reel Breakdown

1. Living Room

This was an assignment for my set dressing class with the amazing Christina Faraj! When I was trying to decide what environment to model, I came across this image. I was drawn to it because it seemed very reminiscent of my childhood, and I wanted to recreate a more cluttered, lived-in environment. I had a lot of fun texturing this! A lot of stuff is hand painted and this was my first time texturing such a large, detailed environment. It really makes me feel nostalgic.

2. Teapot Tank

This was a super fun assignment for my lighting class! I was given this teapot tank asset, and I fully textured it in substance painter and then I modeled and textured the environment. I wanted to portray that the teapot girl was on a journey through the garden, and she got caught in some rocks but she's determined to get through them. For the lighting, I wanted a nighttime scene because I wanted the headlights to be the main light source. I also thought the flowers would be fun light sources!

3. PomPom & Piggy

This was a 15-week group project that I did with my friends Seth and Tenzin. We were involved in every step from pre-production to post-production. I was in charge of environment modeling, some of the texturing, the axe asset, and most of the lighting and compositing. This project was especially tough because it was such a short amount of time to complete everything in the pipeline, but I really learned a lot from this experience! It was my first time attempting lighting coming from billboards, but it was fun to figure out.

4. Kitchen

This was a personal project I worked on over the summer. I originally had the idea of this cat baker that made a mess of their kitchen, which is why a lot of the props are cat or fish themed. I had a lot of fun moving the props around to make the kitchen less neat, and the baking props were a lot of fun to model! For lighting, I wanted to replicate a skylight right above the kitchen to let in some natural sunlight as well as some shadows from the trees up above.

5. Underwater Hallway

This was another assignment from my lighting class. I was given the environment model, and I decided to try making it look like it was underwater. I've never tried lighting a scene like this, but it was really fun! After texturing everything, I searched online for some references and stumbled upon some shipwreck pictures. I wanted to make the "water" seem really murky, so I used volumetric lighting along with some gobo filters to get those water reflection lines.

6. Greenhouse

This was another personal project that I worked on over the summer. I was really inspired by greenhouses that I saw online, and I wanted mine to seem like it was a special clubhouse for some fancy ladies. I set up a whole tea party, with delectable treats all around the table. This was my first time modeling plants, and it took me a bit of time to figure out but I'm pretty happy with the result. In terms of lighting, I wanted it to be a bright sunny day, with the sun shining through a small stained glass window at the top to give some beautiful colored rays.
