Reel Breakdown

1. Ferris Wheel

This ferris wheel was inspired by beaded bracelets, no source in particular. Creating this helped me practice rigging and understanding the concept of parenting. I had a lot of fun modeling and lighting the scene, I guess I really like nighttime lighting. I textured the "carts" in Substance Painter and I played with Arnold atmosphere to make the lighting more hazy.

2. "Food Truck" Diorama

Based off illustrations done by Minya and Yuuri, I wanted to create an everyday scene which brought nostalgia. Rather than having this take place in the day, I wanted to experiment with lighting at night because I thought it would feel more cozy and warm. I used Photoshop to draw the textures and everything else was done in Maya.

3. "Deserted" Game

A game made in Unreal Engine 5. I was inspired by old ruins and wanted the foliage to shine throughout the game. I wanted it to feel a part of nature so I put a lot of glass to let the outside world shine through. I textured the walls, floor, and roofs in ZBrush and built the entire layout in Unreal. I then added all the commands for the doors and the moving platform and put a first person perspective.

4. "Ro-Bobby"

My little cousin came up with the original design for this robot, so I thought it would be fitting to ask her to name it. Thus, Ro-Bobby was born! I tweaked some aspects of her design and I came up with the limited color palette. I wanted the robot to be very cute and non-threatening, placed on a platform in a small lab setting.

5. Robot Arm

This was my first time rigging! My teacher provided the model, and I had to rig everything, and I did a small animation with it. â€‹

6. "The Flashdrive" Command Room Scene

A short film done with my teammates, Kam Mays and Vien Zheng. I was in charge of editing the entire film and all aspects of the command room scene shown in the reel.

7. "Pinball"

This was a quick one-day animation practice. I created obstacles for the ball to bounce off of in order to make the ball physics as realistic as possible. It was really fun to animate, and I'm proud of it.

8. Stairs Practice

This was another animation practice that I'm proud of! I made the model go down the stairs and trip over a small box, so I was able to practice a modified walk cycle and do something fun at the end. The butt jiggle was an added bonus.

9. Traffic Scene

My first assignment for 3d class ever! I learned a lot while doing this. It taught me modeling and animating in a path. I based it off brownstone homes in Brooklyn and Manhattan, and the lighting was very fun to experiment with. I thought it'd be fun to have some lights on in the buildings along with the streetlights shining down on the street.

10. Lip Sync

This assignment was super fun to do. I wanted the character to lip sync to a super recognizable song, so I chose "A Thousand Miles" by Vanessa Carlton. It was fun to see my class sing along and get this song stuck in their heads constantly. I also recreated the music video, in which she's riding down the street on a piano.

Song: Anri - Shyness Boy (Instrumental)
